Hurricanes Upend the Indians in Non-Division Play
GULFPORT–The Biloxi Indians entered their matchup with the West Harrison Hurricanes riding a 7 game winning streak using a red-hot offense, but on Saturday, Hurricanes’ starter Kyle East threw a complete game shutout for a 1-0 victory at home.
West Harrison’s C.J. Felix scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the first, hitting a triple that went past Biloxi right fielder Tyler Wlison. Felix crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Tripp Parkinson. Parkinson was the only baserunner after the first inning to reach scoring position, stealing second and third after a fourth inning single.
East went the distance for the Hurricanes, scattering four hits and striking out four, to pick up the shutout victory. Biloxi starter Jordan Skog was the hard-luck loser, throwing six innings, and allowing only two hits while striking out eight in the game.
In addition to Skog, Cody Brown, Hawtin Buchanan, and Jordan Mata all singled for the Indians.
Tuesday, Biloxi (11-4, 5-1) travels to Lucedale to face George County, and West Harrison (7-8, 3-3) heads to Ocean Springs to take on St. Martin.
